Final Project: News Release Optimization

Original News Release:

Edmonton Public School increased rent affects programs for families.

Families and children will be affected by the Public School’s 600% increase in rent to daycares, preschools, and in-school programs by 2017.

Current programs express their concern over the skyrocketing rent increase over the next four years by Edmonton Public School Boards.

“It’s pretty devastating, I’m just trying not to panic at this point,” said Elmhurst, executive director of the Greenfield School Age Daycare Association. We understood our rent was going up this year, so we expected a fee increase, but we didn’t expect to be as high as it was.”

Daycares, preschools and in-school programs wonder if their programs will survive, as families will not be able to pay higher cost for childcare.

In efforts to recoup cost Edmonton Public School is looking to find solutions for their shortfall.

While the school board recognizes providers like Elmhurst as “valuable” contributors to schools and communities…the board gets no provincial funding for the leased space. Even with the hikes, the ends don’t meet.”

What I did, and why?

Essentially I took out the keywords, checked them in Adwords, Twitter, Google Insights, and put them into the my optimized news release. I also chose to include a startling stat (600% increase in rent) with links to the original article so that readers could see where the information came from. I also used key phrases from the original text and quotes to directly relay the important information to the reader. Finally I tried to create a balanced perspective, but persuade readers to be aware of the magnitude of these increases on families directly. Finally I included a link to the original article and a CBC News Report video to increase traffic to synergy with the article, Wisdom Trees news release, and the original article.

I also wanted to say that I found that this website (http://christineokelly.hubpages.com/hub/SEO-Press-Releases-How-to-Write-them-and-Where-to-Submit-Them#) which included some of the visuals you included in the assignment instructions but also found that the 5 steps helped me to understand what to do when optimizing news releases and why.

Thanks for the amazing course.  I look forward to the courses in the fall for the Social Media Citation program.

Wisdom Tree Media Inc is on Facebook!

https://www.facebook.com/WisdomTreeMediaInc?ref=tn_tnmn

The articles for Week 5 were very informative and interesting. I liked the idea that the objective of Facebook is about engagement and relationships and the view into the future through Coca-Cola and face recognition expanded my imagination about where social media is going.

My hopes for Wisdom Tree Media Inc is that it too will evolve and grow both in LIKES and in content and interest for those who visit my page.

Blogging: What would you write about?

What would you write about if you were to start a blog?

Here are some openings for topics I will explore in future blogs.
  • Did you know that about one out of every five children between the ages of 4-16 years suffers from some type of psychiatric disorder?
  • Did you know that 70% of young adults report symptoms of mental health in childhood?
  • Did you know the average age for the onset of anxiety disorders and depression is now 12 years of age?
  • Optimist is someone who figures that taking a step backward after taking a step forward is not a disaster, it's a cha-cha. (Robert Bault)
  • The Quieter you become, the more you can hear. (Baba Ram Dass)
  • Take a moment to imagine a neighbourhood where people step out their doors to be greeted by neighbours, where giggles, laughter and the squeals of children are common place, and seniors are active and important members.
  • Imagine a time and place where you felt connected to your body, your mind, and your spirit.
  • Imagine hearing that another young person has lost their life due to bullying. What can we do as concerned parents, loved ones and community members?
